Getting Started

Creating your account

Snikus is where founders build in public — every account starts the same way, whether you plan to launch a startup, join one, or just follow along as an investor. You can sign up with an email address and password, or with one tap using Google — both paths land you in exactly the same place, and nothing about your account works differently depending on which one you choose.

Signing up with email

Go to the sign-up page and enter your name, a username, your email address, a password, and your date of birth. A few things worth knowing about each field:

  • Username — this is your permanent handle across the platform (your profile URL, your @mentions). Letters, numbers, and underscores only, 3–30 characters. Choose something you're comfortable being known by, since changing it later isn't as simple as editing a bio.
  • Date of birth — Snikus requires users to be at least 18. This isn't shown publicly.
  • Password — at least 6 characters. We'd still recommend something longer and unique to Snikus, especially since you can also enable 2FA afterward (see Account & Billing for that).

Once you submit the form, we send a verification email right away. You can look around the platform immediately — browse Explore, read Rankings — but a handful of actions (posting, applying as a Founder, messaging) are held until you've clicked the link in that email. If it doesn't arrive within a couple of minutes, check spam before assuming something's wrong.

Signing up with Google

Tap "Continue with Google" and choose your Google account — no password to create or remember. If it's your first time signing in this way, you'll land on a short one-time setup screen to pick a username and confirm your date of birth, since Google doesn't hand those over automatically. After that first time, every future sign-in is a single tap.

An email address can only be tied to one Snikus account. If you already have a Snikus account under the same email as your Google account, signing in with Google logs you into that existing account rather than creating a second one.

What happens right after signup

New accounts go through a short onboarding flow: choosing your intent (Founder, joining a team, personal use, or Investor), your country, and a few interest tags that shape what shows up in your early feed. None of this is permanent — your intent and interests can be changed later from Account Settings — it just gives Snikus something to work with on day one instead of showing you a blank feed.

Switching between accounts

Plenty of founders run more than one Snikus account — a personal one and a separate one for a startup, for example. Snikus supports up to 5 accounts on the same browser or device, switchable from your profile menu without logging out and back in each time. Only you can add an account to this list; it's tied to your device, not shared or synced anywhere else.

Frequently asked

Can I change my email later?

Yes, from Account Settings under the Personal tab — you'll need to verify the new address before it takes effect.

What if I forget my password?

Use "Forgot password?" on the login page. We'll email a reset link that expires after a short window, so use it soon after it arrives rather than saving it for later.
